Although, I didn’t get a chance to do a lot of fun things this summer too much because you know life just be life’n but I was able to check out this dope exhibit in Balitmore City downtown showcasing The Culture in Hip Hop as we are in the 50th year anniversary of Hip Hop. . Being from the city of where Hip Hop started its almost like Hip Hop is in my DNA so of course, I had to check out this exhibit this summer. The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century presented art history of hip hop culture and its within it’s different expressions across the globe. The multimedia exhibition examines the resounding impact of hip hop on contemporary art and culture, including its unique contributions to innovations in music, visual and performing arts, fashion, and technology. To illuminate the depth of hip hop’s influence, the exhibition will feature immersive installations, fashion, painting, sculpture, photography, and video, showcasing the complex, expansive, and international allure of one of the 20th and 21st century’s great cultural movements. My favorite part of the exhibit was the graffiti taxi and the part about Jay-Z and his transitions throughout his career within the different phases he has gone through while showing some of his popular music videos. Hip Hop has influenced me in so many ways from the way I dress and express myself through my fashion, my choice of Hip Hop music, and of course my love for graffiti. Without Hip Hop then I don’t know where I would be, I will always have a strong love for Hip Hop and continued to be influenced by Hip Hop til the end of time. Stay tune as I talk about my top 5 Hip Hop artist in a upcoming blog post and some of my favorite Hip Hop tracks.
