journey to inner peace: capturing moments of self care:
March ‘24
Hey everyone! 💐🤍 — Yes, I know it’s been about two months since my last post but if you are reading this I hope you are well and are in a good mental space. If you aren’t feeling well currently, I just want to take the time to say that it is okay to not be okay and I hope you can find some time to yourself soon to take good care of yourself to feel better. Lately, I have been finding myself doing more things alone as part of my self-care/helping my mental health. Now, I know you probably thinking like “wow you are brave for going out to do different things of your interest alone” right? but nah, actually I have grown to love to do things alone and be in my own space doing new things and even things that I currently love alone like thrifting, sneaker shopping, concerts, mall runs, and so much more. If you know me, you know I am the only child so doing things alone is not bad for me since I grew up with no siblings so I know how to do things alone and be comfortable with it. I will say a few years ago, I went through a phase where I hated doing things alone and would rely on others to do different things and go different places. Through that phase though, I would miss out on different experiences because of other last-minute cancellations or never getting back to me with an answer if they would want to join me to go to the event together or just in general if I had extended the invitation. So, I had to learn the hard way to get out of that phase and be okay with doing things alone and learn that it is okay to be in your solitude as you practice self-care and be on your journey of inner peace. The latest thing I have been able to do alone is being able to go see one of my favorite artists right now in concert last week. I was so excited to be able to see Mahalia last week with her IRL Tour, if you know me you know I have been a huge fan of hers since like 2016 so seeing her was EVERYTHING to me. I will say I was not nervous at all about going to a concert alone for the first time, I was just more excited than anything about seeing Mahalia. With that being said the concert was just a good vibe and I had an amazing time at the concert — I just want to say that this would be my first of many concerts alone lol, so I am looking forward to the next concert I go to alone and many more to come. If you are reading this and have never listened to Mahalia’s music you need to go check out her music because she has such a great catalog and sounds so good in person (below you will see a few videos from the concert that I recorded lol). If you are an adult and are struggling with going places alone, my best advice to you is JUST DO IT! I know that sounds so simple but that is all it takes is just committing to whatever event that is and just going for it. I have learned that being in your solitude helps you learn more about yourself and can create more memories alone without having anyone to do anything with. Always remember tomorrow is not promised so please bet on yourself and live life like it’s your last day. I hope this post can encourage you all to do something you enjoy on your own by yourself. As always, below are some songs to leave with you — for this post I chose my favorite songs by Mahalia and even two songs that can be related to this post that happens to be in my weekly rotation this week. I hope you enjoy these picks.
much love,
